When It Gets Too Quiet....

Posted by PicasaYesterday afternoon, right before nap time, I sat down on the couch and O and Liv headed back to the bedroom to play. I should have known something was up when I didn't hear any noise for a few minutes, but I thought, "Wow, this is really nice. They're playing together! I knew this day would come!" Then, I started to smell baby powder, but I just ignored it, and continued to enjoy my few minutes of peace.

Then, my little stinker pot walked out with the biggest container of baby powder that we have, and I knew right away this was not going to be good. His hair was completely white, and his clothes were covered. When I entered the room, it looked as though it had snowed, and Liv just sat there with a dazed look on her face.

I scooped them up and threw them in the bath tub, put Liv down for a nap, and let Owen play some more in the tub, and I cleaned the room as best I could. We had a small meltdown when O realized his blanket was in the washing machine, but he eventually fell asleep, while I finished wiping down toys and doing laundry. When Justin came home, he used his shop vac to finish cleaning, but we still feel like there is baby powder everywhere!

So lesson learned. Do not leave baby powder where the toddler can reach it (dad :) and you may want to check on the kids when you don't hear anything for a few minutes (mom)

Look at the bright side. They were not hurt. They had fun. It was not real expensive. The room must have smelled good. NO trip to the ER. Lesson learned.

Believe it or not, Shelbi and a little friend did the same thing when she was about 14mos, just not to the same extent. I caught them before the entire container of baby powder ended up on them and the floor. Be thankful it wasn't something permanent or staining -- it could have been a lot worse. It will be a funny memory in the future!

Quite funny to Grammy and Grandpa! Not so funny for their parents I'm sure. What a great memory though! Love to all!

We have also had a similar experience, just not as bad! They've also gotten into vapor rub, toilet paper/kleenex, and most recently nail polish (yikes!) :)

I've learned my lesson too! And everytime my kids are quiet, I run to check on them! Just sometimes I'm a little late!
