Being the intelligent people that we are, we let him drive it for the first time in the house, where he promptly drove right into the fire place. That, of course, sent him over the edge! He cried and cried, and would not drive it the next day until I had returned from running errands.
He eventually got the hang of it, and now he can mow and steer pretty well, although he still hits the fence sometimes.
I hope his enthusiasm for mowing the grass will continue when he is thirteen!
